Data sourced from City of Port Moody Open Data Portal via ArcGIS REST API. Records shown may include all development application types; this tracker highlights applications related to multi-unit residential (multiplex, secondary suite, laneway home, SSMUH). Data is provided as-is and may not reflect the most current City records. For official permit status, contact portmoody.ca.

How to read this

What the data shows

This tracker pulls live from Port Moody's open data portal - the same dataset City staff use. Every development application filed with the City goes into this system, tagged with its type, status, and milestone dates.

We filter for applications related to multi-unit residential: multiplex permits, secondary suites, laneway homes, and anything flagged under the SSMUH (Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing) legislation that came into force in 2024.

If a permit isn't showing on this map, it hasn't been filed yet - not that it's been denied. Port Moody is early in the SSMUH wave. The applications you see here are the first movers.

Application stages

What each status means

1

In Review

Application submitted. City staff are reviewing for completeness and bylaw compliance. Typical duration: 3-9 months.

2

Approved

Development permit approved. Building permit drawings can now be submitted. Approval is conditional - conditions must be met before issuance.

3

Permit Issued

Building permit in hand. Construction can begin. This is the green light.

4

Complete

Construction finished, occupancy confirmed. A new home (or homes) on Port Moody streets.

-

Withdrawn

Applicant withdrew the application. Not a denial - could be design change, financial decision, or refiled under a different approach.
